For many years, the technology sector has been one of the pillars of Łódź’s economy. Over 200 IT companies—ranging from large global brands to smaller firms and startups—along with universities, industry organizations, and support institutions such as the Łódź ICT Cluster, form the foundation of the city’s thriving tech ecosystem. One of Łódź’s standout specializations in this area is fintech.
In October 2021, a fintech community representing around 30 Łódź-based companies was established on the initiative of the City of Łódź Office. Today, it operates as a cluster under the name FinTech Central Poland Foundation (FCP).
The primary goal of FinTech Central Poland is to foster knowledge exchange, promote locally developed solutions for the Fintech and BankTech sectors both in Poland and abroad, and support the sector’s growth. A testament to this mission is the co-creation of postgraduate programs—AML Analyst and FinTech—delivered in collaboration with the University of Łódź, and taught primarily by practitioners from local companies.
Łódź-based IT companies are also engaged in Smart City initiatives. Their expertise, hands-on experience, and already-developed services support the work of the SmartŁódź team.
The city’s motto, "Łódź Creates", is more than just a slogan — it’s the essence of Łódź’s identity.
Today, Łódź is one of the most important hubs for the creative sector in Poland. The Digital Creative Industries, such as:
play a significant role in the local economy.
Creative industries thrive in Łódź, thanks in part to the steady influx of graduates from leading arts and media schools, such as the Łódź Film School and the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. Their activities are supported not only by the City of Łódź (via Invest in Łódź and the Łódź Events Centre), but also by industry institutions and organizations, including EC1, the Center for Comics and Interactive Narration, the Media Cluster Foundation, and Art Inkubator.
